BCA-Building Careers - Build Knowledge and Jobs

Young Leaders Programme

The Built Environment (BE) sector is undergoing an important phase of transformation. Singapore’s buildings and infrastructure will become smarter and greener with adoption of technology and more innovative building design. The industry must be supported by individuals who are passionate, creative and ready to embrace transformation.

The Young Leaders Programme (YLP) was launched in 2016 to proactively engage and retain young professionals to lead the future growth of the built environment sector. BCA has worked closely with leading industry firms, government agencies and industry associations to identify and nominate a group of young and talented professionals who exude leadership qualities and passion in their work. Through the YLP, BCA engages the YLs on policy formulation, and taps on their experience and enthusiasm to support BCA’s career promotion efforts.

The YLP leverages on networking and forming meaningful connections, as well as exposure to the latest industry developments to maximise opportunities for YLs.

iBuildSG Young Leaders’ Advocate

BCA has developed the iBuildSG Young Leaders’ Advocate award to recognise passionate Young Leaders for their significant contributions in the Built Environment. Advocates demonstrate passion and leadership qualities through the YLP and show effort outside of their regular jobs to collaborate with BCA to build consensus, co-create and co-deliver policy-related matters and outreach events to help transform and promote the BE sector.

The term of recognition is based on the track records of the YL’s involvement over their 3-year term under the YLP in the following areas:

  • Build Consensus: Involvement in platforms that impart knowledge on know-how of the BE transformation
  • Co-create: Involvement in platforms that provide diverse views and recommendations from the ground on policy formation and professional development
  • Co-deliver: Involvement in activities that give back to the society and inspire and attract new and younger entrants to join the BE sector

In 2019, BCA recognised four iBuildSG Young Leaders’ Advocates:
